A Diabolically Torn Toenail

Who knew that chasing after a daisy

Could result in something so crazy!?

Showing off my new running powers,

has led to this baby crying for hours.

Mommy's running back and forth

Screaming and squealing for all she's worth.

Will it ever come back?

Uh oh, Mommy's tripped over the ice pack.

First, this cutie learned to stand.

Now, I'm racing around and causing havoc, mayhem, and making everything fall from the tables to the ground.

"Rosie, no!"  Mommy pants, dipping to catch a vase just in time.

SPLASH!

The vase may be saved, but there goes the water.  Splish, splosh.  Splish, splosh.  The carpet's completely soaked.

Oh, I'm so adorably diabolical.

Hey!  Look!  Look!  One of the daisies fell all the way over there.  I know what I can do!  I'll take off and grab it, then I'll be a diabolical cutie running with one of Mommy's daisies waving in the air.

I hoist myself back up to my feet.

Oomph, that's not easy for a baby like me.

Now, I get going.  Once my feet are on their way, there's no going back.  On and on my feet thump on the floor, gaining speed, gaining momentum.  I'm getting closer to that little daisy.  One, two, three...

OOH, EEI, AHH...

"WWWWWAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!"

I've tripped and I've fallen, but what's worse is my toe stings and I can't stop sobbin'.

"WWWWAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!"

It hurts!  It hurts!  Is my toe broken?  What's going on?

"Oh, Sweetie.  You're okay.  You simply fell and..."

Mommy's mouth drops and her eyes bug bigger than ever before.

"GET IN HERE!"  She bellows and Daddy comes sprinting.

"What is it?  What's wrong?"

"HER TOENAIL!  HER TOENAIL!"

Huh?  While Daddy comes and takes a look, I sneak a peak and what do I see?

There on the floor, lying next to my toe, is the nail!  My nail has come off!  The carpet must have caught it.  Now it's been ripped off and it is gone?  Is it forever?  Will it ever grow back?

Will my toe be toenail-less forever?

"WWWWWAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!"

Over and over I cry and cry.  The tears keep fallen, even after Daddy has bandaged my toe and dabbed my nose.

"You're okay, Rosie," he comforts as he holds me.  Daddy presses the ice pack to my toes.  Oh, it feels so cold.  At least it's numbing the pain down enough that I no longer feel it so bad.

Meanwhile, behind us, the crazy beast of Mommy can't seem to gain any control.

"AAAAAHHHHHHH!"  She screams and runs from one room to the next.  "The whole nail is off!  Oh, it's so gross!  Eww!  Eww!  EEEWWWWWW!!!!!"

"Honey," Daddy tries to get her attention.  "You need to calm down.  Her toenail will grow back."

"Calm down!?  Don't tell me to calm...AAHHHH!"

Uh oh, did I accidentally kick the ice pack into Mommy's path?

"Well," Daddy drawls as he stares at Mommy, who's too shocked after tripping to do anything more that lay on the floor.  "At least she's stopped screaming."
