A Diabolical Naptime Escape

Peek-a-boo where are you?
Peek-a-boo I won't tell you.
Am I around the corner
Or under the open drawer?
Time for a nap again?
Just when I was about to win.
How about one more peek-a-boo?
Where Mommy won't have a clue.
"Peek-a-boo! Where are you?"
Mommy tiptoes down the hall, never once knowing how loud her feet fall. You may not know where I am hiding, dear, dear Mommy. But I know exactly where you are with every single foot fall.
"I'm going to find you."
Where, oh, where could I be? There she goes looking around the corner. Then she stompy tiptoes over to her desk by the door.
"Are you hiding under this open drawer? Ha!? Oh," Mummy slumps for only a second before taking off to look for me again.
Where, oh, where am I?
Leaning against the crib, of course. The one place Mommy won't expect me to be. Sitting amongst the plush toys and puffy animals.
All Mommy has to do is turn around.
But watching her stomp on her toes is much too fun.
"Where are...OOMPH!"
In her quest to look for me, Mommy doesn't see that pile of papers until it is much too late. Down she trips with papers sprawling everywhere. She takes one look and gives a weak moan.
"I'll have to sort those all over again," she sighs.
Alright, alright. I'm a diabolical mastermind, not a meanie-head.
"Cough, cough," I clue her in.
Mommy twists her head and starts to beam. "I found you!" She squeals, with all of the strewn papers temporarily forgotten. She throws her fists into the air and gives herself a congratulatory high-five. "What?" She asks when she sees me staring at her with that blank, baby face. "Sometimes you have to high-five yourself."
Oh, Mommy. Dear, dear, clearly have been given too many diabolical tricks and have now gone crazy Mommy.
"Alright Chase, time for a nap."
Again? It's only been five hours since the last one.
I protest, but a yawn gives me away. Maybe I will have a little nap after all.
Mommy rocks me sound asleep, or so she thinks.
I do admit that I am a bit tired. I might take a nap in a little bit. But, I'm still a diabolical mastermind.
As soon as Mommy sets me in the crib, she stompy tiptoes over to the strewn papers to put them in rows. Sheesh! Even if I wanted a nap, those papers rustling is making too much noise.
Flip! Slip! SSSSCCCCRRRAPE! Plop!
It is enough to drive a baby mad.
Good thing I'm not that tired or I might go insane. Instead I glance at Mommy to make sure that she is fully distracted before I make my escape.
I lift up the loose board and crawl and wedge and squeeze my way out.
Bump!
I freeze to make sure that Mommy didn't hear me.
Flip! Slip! SSSSCCCCRRRRRAPE! Plop!
Not even a flinch.
I nestle the loose board back into place, then I start looking about. Where would be a good hiding place?
I plan to play one more peek-a-boo. This time, a diabolical one.
I silently crawl. I take the long route to make sure Mommy doesn't see me at all. Where, oh where, is a good hiding place?
"I need some coffee."
Mommy leaves the room and now is my chance. I beeline for the other side of the room. I wiggle and snuggle right underneath that open desk drawer.
There!
Now, I'm in place. Hehe! She'll never find me.
YYYAAAWWWWNNNN!
I guess I am a little more tired than I thought. I lower my head and close my eyes. I fall fast asleep and time slips by.
"AAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!"
I horribly shrill, ear piercing screech blasts me wide awake.
"I'VE LOST THE BABY!"
Hehe!
Peek-a-boo.
